A cross-border project was opened in Ostroh Academy

In February 28th, an official opening of a project “Increasing the competitiveness of graduates in the labor markets of Ukraine and Belarus through the creation of a cross-border network of university centers for professional and career counselling” took place in Ostroh Academy.

There are four universities working on this project: The National University of Ostroh Academy (Ukraine), O.S. Pushkin Brest State University (Belarus), Lutsk National Technical University (Ukraine) and Francisk Skorina Gomel State University (Belarus). Within the framework of the project, centers of professional and career guidance were created on the basis of these universities.

Participants of the first project’s conference were greeted by: The rector of National University ‘Ostroh Academy’, Doctor of Psychology, Professor Ihor Pasichnyk, the rector of Lutsk National Technical University, Doctor of Technical sciences, professor Petro Savchuk, the dean of Social and Pedagogical Faculty of O.S. Pushkin Brest State University, Cand.Sc. (Pedagogy), Associate Professor Nadiia Leoniuk and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogics of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Vitalii Dvorak.

A project supervisor – Cand.Sc. (Psychology), Associate Professor Eduard Balashov presented to the participants the content of the project, its quantitative indicators and indicators of the success of project implementation. Project planning, reporting and visibility were also discussed there.

Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogics of O.S. Pushkin Brest State University, senior assistant in professional and career guidance Mariia Kovalevych talked about scientific and methodical approaches of professional guidance of students and pupils based on experience of O.S. Pushkin Brest State University.

There also was a presentation and a discussion regarding the structure of a project’s website.

The aim of the project “Increasing the competitiveness of graduates in the labor markets of Ukraine and Belarus through the creation of a cross-border network of university centers for professional and career counselling” is to advance local communities’ standard of living by enhancing competition among the youth in the labour market in Ukraine and Belarus. Therefore, a system of professional and technical education of students and partner universities’ graduates has been created which helps develop professional and career self-identification of graduates and present their professional competence to employers in the labour markets in Ukraine and Belarus.

To target groups belong high school students and applicants, bachelor students and university graduates, specialists for professional and career guidance.

Within the framework of professional and career guidance centers, it is planned to organize workshops and seminars for the target groups of the project. In addition to that, training and certification of consultants, the professional and career orientation of entrants and graduates, and the exchange of experience and best practices will take place.

Apart from that, program implementers will continuously inform employers about the graduates' career potential by organizing access to the resume database via the Internet.

Project “Increasing the competitiveness of graduates in the labor markets of Ukraine and Belarus through the creation of a cross-border network of university centers for professional and career counselling” is implemented under the Belarus-Ukraine EaPTC Grant Program with the support of the European Union.
